Maybe this bottle should have been consumed earlier. I just found it in my cellar and needed to "reduce inventory". I did not buy it - it must have been a gift. Although the fill was high in the neck and the color was dark purple, the wine was dominated by an overbearing woodiness that obscured any fruit that might have been hiding underneath. I am not enough of an expert to say whether this woodiness was due to the oak barrels in which the wine was allegedly aged or to too many grapevine stems in the ferment. In any case, it was not as tasty as many an Argentine Malbec that one can find for $8-$15. I pumped the oxygen out of the 2/3 filled bottle with the Vacu-vin and will try it again tomorrow.

Good value for price. Great saturated near opaque black color. Aromas of spicy black fruit - tarry blackberry, ripe black plum, black pepper and hint of vanilla and toast/smoke from new French oak.

(Château de Haute-Serre Cahors Grand Vin Seigneur) Saturated, very dark ruby color; herbaceous, savory, smoke, tar, black pepper nose; tar, black pepper, oak palate with near medium acidity; could use 2 years; medium-plus finish (85% Malbec; 12-18 months in new oak)

Russk. Wine Spectator Gran Tour at the Fontainebleau. Holly Sh*t, like 16% alcohol. Not a food wine.

Nice, typical Malbec from Cahors, not heavy, but much more shallow than 2009 that I tried earlier this year
