I always enjoy Palermo. It’s very fruity and New World with aromas and flavors of cassis, blackberries, black cherry, and espresso. It still has plenty of beefy tannins and acidity. As others have reported, it’s initially very hot and has an alcoholic burn, but after decanting for a few hours, the wine really cools down, tannins smooth out, and integrates well. It’s definitely not over the hill. Drink now (with decant) or over next 4-5 years.

Cabernet with the aging potential of a Vihno Verde. One of my wife’s bottles that was discovered at the bottom of a case of miscellaneous reds. Not a whole lot left here besides high alcohol heat. No tannin or structure and no tertiary development. This is a wine best drunk young.

Cellared at home for 4 years. Had with ribeye NYE dinner. Needed some air. Decanted for 4+ hours and it settled in nicely. Blackberry, plum, coffee notes. Silky smooth deep purple. Very solid.
