Splash decant, started out feeling younger than expected but developed fairly quick after a few hrs open. Nose is rich dark fruit, dusty napa earth, framed by sweet vanilla, not as opulent as the 12 but very nice. On the palate this is a lighter and more restrained take on classic napa cab profile. Round and plush, medium plus body reflective of the 11 vintage, still fairly primary but drinking really well and probably will continue to do so for another 10 years. I do enjoy the cooler so called "off vintage" CA cabs as they tend to age more gracefully with the slightly lower alcohol. That said as is usually the case with wine it's all about producer. Celia really has this dialed in.

This is a beautiful wine in an off year. Decanted for 4 hours before a traditional Thanksgiving dinner. Paired extremely well with the brined Turkey, homemade drippings Gravy, Garlic Smashed Potatoes, Frog Bench farms sweet potatoes, Frog Bench farms carrots cooked in duck fat, Frog Bench Farms beets and sugar pumpkins cooked in ginger and nutmeg, homemade cranberry sauce, homemade herb dressing/stuffing, and green beans cooked in duck fat. The wine held its own with the rich food, and really sang during dinner. I recommend pairing with food. A dark brooding color, a subtle nose of vanilla, and on the palate, notes of coffee, chocolate, and subtle hints of pepper. For an off year, this is an admirable effort. Considering that only two of us were drinking wine tonight, it was the perfect choice. Cheers and Happy Thanksgiving.

Some time has done wonders for this wine. Not one of the best vintages, but drinking well now.
