  Dull, dark ruby with weakening at fringe. Upon opening, difficult to pinpoint the varietal. Overripe, porty and slightly spirity, too. About an hour later all of the porty and overripe characters had almost completely disappeared and the nose was greeted with peppery plum/raspberry and chocolate notes. The mouth shows reasonable restraint in the use of oak. Mellow, except for a rather sharp finish. A disappointing start, but very good at the end. Still has some structure to age further.
