  • Interesting and fairly unique wine both in terms of elaboration and longevity.
    Medium amber color; more suggestive of age than botrytis. Other than a small amount of tartrates, there was essentially no deposit. cork slightly protruding.
    the aromas were remarkably clean with elements suggesting caramel but also baking spices. Given the age of the wine and the supposedly great vintage for Cotaux du Layon I expected a little more complexity. I conclude that the merits of this wine is its longevity rather than its aromatic profile. Could undoubtedly have aged for another 50 years...
