* Opened 2-hours before dinner (no decant) and paired well with roasted chicken in lemon and sage.
I was interested to see how this now 11+ year old cuvee would hold up, and right off the bat, the color was lively and dense, with a dark garnet core.
On the nose, lovely notes of strawberry, spices and herbs, very cotes de Nuits, seductive and complex. In the mouth, surprising 'barolo-esque' hints of olive, with subtle red fruit, a medium body and a solid structure with fully integrated tannins. Finishes quite long, with good depth and balance.
This is a very good effort from Goldeneye, elegant, intriguing and absolutely at its apogee, right now. Comparable in style and quality to a mature 1er cru Chambolle or Gevrey Chambertin. Excellent stuff, 91 points on the night. Drink now, no point in waiting.

Wow - wasn’t sure how much to expect but at age 11, this wine was stellar. Complex, elegant, and thought provoking with a bit of funk. Note to self: drink more aged Pinots.

Aromas of blackberry, roses, and smoke. Flavors of black cherry, pomegranate, stewed strawberries, charred wood. Medium-light bodied with fresh juicy plum acidity on a medium finish.

Excellent Pinot with 2012 being a standout in my mind. Has a complexity and smokiness on the finish that invites you back for more.
