This wine really is coming into its own now. An excellent effort from Benjamin Romeo. I have watched its evolution beginning with a very good early drinking young rioja going through an awkward stage and now very much firing on all cylinders. Very well resolved with excellent balance between alcohol, fruit, and oak.

Nasty Brett filled disaster...completely undrinkable...I grew up in the suburbs so I am very sensitive to this European Brett nonsense that some claim adds interest or character...yech

Would have confused for Grenache blind. Starts out very funky, almost bretty but not quite, though this mostly blows off with air. Generously fruity with a distinct black cherry profile. A hint of bitterness adds complexity. Medium-bodied with good acidity. Not much tannin and a good mouthfeel. I'm surprised this is seen as a modernist producer, as the oak is present but hardly overpowering and it's not at all extracted. Excellent.

Quite out of balance, volatile and quite bretty
