Wines Tasted at HDH Auction (Tru - Chicago IL): Started very barnyardy with some Brett, the unattractive notes dissipated after 10-15 minutes, and some intriguing spice aromas emerged after 30 minutes in glass. Mature red fruit with good minerality and acidity. Slightly too firm at the very finish.

HDH auction tasting at Tru; 3/21/2014-3/22/2014 (Chicago, IL): Funky and weird nose, with tons of animal and barnyard. With some air a bit of fruit started showing up. Plenty of life still, with a lot of red-fruit-inflected acid. Definitely needed the air for a lot of the more offensive aromas to blow off, at which point this became very nice. Tannins are quite soft.

HDH Auction (Tru - Chicago, IL): Earthy, and funky nose with sour cherries, some pomegranate and cranberries. The palate was mineral-driven with lots of florals and red fruits. Definitely an acidic wine (in a good way) that has a real old-school elegance to it.
