  • First experience with a CF rose and I liked it. Served chilled on a warm night with sea food entrees and enjoyed.

  • Easy drinking on a 90 degree day -- delightful. Not much in the way of flavor, but it was floral. Good for the environment of the day.

  • Very light rose without much flavor -- not my style. Note that Virage's tasting notes are pretty well spot on -- delicate. I can see how some would enjoy this style, but I look for more fruit in my Cali rose.

  • Black Cat 101 (Undisclosed Italian Location in NY, NY (The place closed in circa 2019)): The most solid rosé we can think of, and even one of the tasters who generally deters from rose wine took a refill. I first had this one in 2014, and probably nearly a case by now. Our house rosé, so to speak, and never disappoints on delivery. It was also a good companion both for the appetizers and along side the main dish. Voted by the somm and the waiter as their best 100% Cab Franc this year (somm also since last year). Less than a glass left by the end of the evening.

(I voted this one constantly as 92-93 and I keep holding it. I think it will live longer than anticipated initially )

  • Thursday night, long week, and once again- we have the wine that delivers: Opened a Virage 2013 Rosé . I was never a big rosé wine until I had this one. It was a total change on the way I see rosé wines. My notes are consistent with the previous ones, with few exceptions: First, the finish became longer since I first tasted it in early spring for the first time. We averaged about 1 bottle every four weeks of this one (basically, it became our 'house' Rosé ). Second, it is now really rolling from pnp. No need to wait for it to decant over the meal. Our small treat for everything. Wonderful work, Emily. This is a Rosé to be proud of.

(Note: For those who simply seek a score value- I gave it few times. 93, and now even reaching 94. But the number does not tell the story. You have to, HAVE TO, drink it to get a new view of Rosé wines)
