Some new friends brought over a 2009 vintage, so we pulled out this 2012 and did a tasting between the two
2009> great deeper color, well balanced smell and subtle taste. could still be a great value for another several years/ rate this one 93 or so. wish we had more bottles of this one. vs 2012 > younger, definitely fruity in smell and taste. rate 90
then we just drank both with pizzas

Maturing into a nice, integrated "pillowy" Pinot Noir - no hard edges, some big fluffy characteristics to the texture. Nose has the tiniest bit of pleasant bite, but at this point all the flavors and other characteristics have harmonized nicely, and it's just a straightforward, still *fruit*-forward, easy-drinking premium Pinot Noir that makes no bones about being from Northern California.

Rich and intense but still medium body in weight. Balanced acidity with dark cherry and a little spice.

Nice, a tad under ripe now budding in the bottle in a few more years, a good clean example of the region and producer.
