Cellar rotations always uncover some hidden bottles. Bad result here. Yes, smoky with barnyard notes, but strawberry fruit is now stewed fruit in a wine not meant for aging. Barely drinkable. Tossed half the bottle. On to the next wine.

Smokey a bit light weight. Muted nose but fresh. Strawberries Is a great description. A whole lot of springtime. Smokey. A little confused on the palate kind of looking for a center that I think will reveal in a day or so. Or in a few years in the cellar. Different from northern Rhone Syrah. Lacking that rooted earthiness. And confidence of a Cornas or St. Joseph. More, much more ephemeral. Kind of dreamy and beautiful in the glass - nice viscous legs. But searching for an identity.
DAY TWO. Just as restrained, still lacking confidence, but something good is there, it is just hiding. The varietal is hiding, the tannins are not nor is the acid. But the character of the wine is oddly absent. Or hidden. Day two revealed a closer connection to its Rhone cousin, gritty earthy stuff but it couldn't find its center. This was part of one of those garagiste send us 200 bucks and we will provide the luck of the draw, a fine draw for sure. And send you a case. I love the randomness of that. I am interested in this wine and am sorry I don't have a few more to compare over time.

Clean nose, strawberry and cherry with some spice. Dry, high tannin, medium acidity, med + alcohol, med body, med finish. Strawberry and a cooked cherry on the palate. Tannins are very present. Might benefit from some time to mellow the tannins. Drinking well now but has some potential for further aging.
