  • A disappointment. I wont be finishing the bottle, and probably wont bother to use it for cooking either. Bottle is of unknown provenance, but not blatantly spoiled. It reminds me of the 1998 Parker Coonawarra Estate Terra Rossa First Growth (which i scored 90pts!?!), tastes tired, or as my dad put it like a bad wine with sherry added to it. Individually there are some interesting flavors in there, but as a whole it is average at its most generous. Essentially it has no body. I have now had a run of uninspiring aged Australian red.

  • This was excellent wine. Very massive, rich, alcoholic and a bit phenolic. Raisiny raspberries, leather and a touch of farmyard. Similar to the Steading 2003 drunk a few days earlier but more involving and complex. This is not a subtle wine although it does have subtleties. Overall - an interesting new world take on a grenache based CNdP style. I liked it a lot - although it is not an everyday wine!

  • Bought on release from Suburban Wines in Yorktown Heights, NY and cellared at 58 degrees ever since. This is a BIG wine. A whiff of eucalyptus on the nose. This bottle is rockin'!! Lovely velvety mouthfeel, succulent fruit, tannins well integrated with balancing acidity. No heat on the finish. Lovely velvety, succulent cherry menthol/eucalyptus fruit. Nice long 30 second finish. A remarkable wine! I wish I had more.

  • not as good as a couple of years ago, quite a bit more oxidation, but opened up OK after a couple of hours. It still had a bit of raspberry and black cherry fruit, but it was harder to find this time around. As with most wines, it was better once we had it with the roasted porkloin.

  • I let the 2nd half of the bottle sit over night (in the 'fridge with the cork in) and finished it off this evening. The tannins softened over night and the wine is much more balanced and enjoyable 24 hours later. It's still toward the end of its life, but it was tasty against some grilled chicken. Drink it up now and decant to soften it up.
