Community Tasting Notes (1) Avg Score: 90 points

  • Single vineyard, late-disgorged 2013.

Surprisingly light in colour with a fair effervescence.

Nose has a very strange and overpowering autolysis odour which reminds me of putrifying yeasty butter or sourmilk. Very difficult to describe with my limited wine vocabulary. Not a pleasant nose, yet one I will never forget and an odour that I now faintly notice in many of de Venoge wines pre 1996.

On the palate are sour and creamy fruits, a somewhat bitter taste with a metalic aftertaste. The acidity is medium/hard.

This wine did not win much applaus at our tasting. I give it 86 points + 4 points for the experience of tasting something completely different.
