  • This wine was quite an unexpected treat. Decanted for a couple of hours, it was surprising youthful and lithe. The color is garnet and of medium intensity. The nose is clean and medium (+) in intensity, with aromas of plums, raspberries, dried roses, raisins, sweet spice and muscat-like notes. The palate is off-dry to slightly sweet, with medium to medium (+) acidity balancing the sweetness. The alcohol is only 11.5% due to the interrupted fermentation. The tannins are medium and help provide some structure. Overall, this is a light to medium-bodied wine with medium (+) flavor intensity and a medium (+) long finish. It would pair well with a chocolate dessert that is not overly sweet and has some berry flavoring, with poached pears in red wine with a chocolate topping or with a sharp cheese course. Very tasty and worth seeking out.
