  • perfect level and cork, still a youthful pale straw colour, powerful, deep, complex nose, still fresh and vibrant, real power, depth and concentration on the palate, great length and persistence, distinct acidity on the finish still giving it freshness with a very clean long finish and aftertaste, top white burgundy at its peak still, just lovely

  • perfect level and cork, quite remarkable still green-straw colour, no sign of its 22 years, superb nose, really fresh but with great power, so complex, hints of buttery Chardonnay but very much in the background, palate also a combination of freshness, depth, power and length, wonderful wine, a privilege to be able to drink at this level, will hold but perfect now

  • perfect level and cork, lovely pale straw colour still with a green tinge, looks youthful, great nose, complex, fine, with real class and power, hint of curry grass, oak is fully integrated, a real food wine on the palate, totally dry, a combination of lightness and power, positive drying tannin (from the oak?) and acidity at the finish, long on the back palate and finish, great with the roast Barbary duck where the power, tannin and acidity really cut the fattiness but also held its own with soft cheese after, still totally fresh and at its peak

  • good level and cork, colour reassuringly pale yellow, nose excellent, complex, aged, nuanced, nutty rather than buttery, lifted and not heavy, palate with real power and depth, acidity now restrained and definitely showing its age, may have been even better a bit younger with more acid zip but that’s water under the bridge, very enjoyable

  • straw-yellow still with green hints, fine powerful and complex nose, hints of apple and pear, palate really powerful, dry, structured, almost the power and structure of a red wine, best with food, at its peak
