I thought this was still quite nice. I agree with a number of the comments below: some decent red fruit left, earthy, rustic, a slight touch of green, and a bit less slight touch of something feral - though in a Burgundy way, not on par with the animale in some Rhone wines. I also agree that the nose outperformed the palate, though the palate was far from dead. From a 750, brief decant.
Opened for Madrid-Rayo.

From Magnums Decanted and returned to bottle 60 minutes before. Colour has softened. Still good fruits on the nose and palate. Classic mature burgundy though not overly farmyard. Sadly one of 4 was dusty/corked.

Bottle, cork and fill excellent. The cork was solid and came out in one piece. Big wine, smelled a little like old barolo initially. Dense and rustic. Earthy, but definitely has a prominent funk - feral is a good descriptor. It softens a little, but remains rough. Not a great wine, but certainly substantial.

Nose has good intensity of aroma with strong earth, pepper, raspberry and a slightly feral streak through it. The palate was not giving a whole lot with some stalk and otherwise looking pretty lean. An interesting wine, if only the palate lived up to the nose it may have been more.
