Opened two hours prior to dinner. The nose is floral with red fruit. The palate is dark cherry, red plums, cranberry and flowers with a hint of baking spices. The finish is moderate to long and smooth.

Clear medium ruby in color with medium plus intensity and notes of cherry, pencil shavings, graphite, red currant, dried rose, raspberry, cranberry, and dried soil. This wine is dry with high acid, medium tannins, medium body, high alcohol, and medium finish.

Big California Pinot. Nose of cherries, cola, but not much sous bois. Palate is expressive and bold, with a lot of fruit and round, sweet, well-integrated tannins. Little bit of that spiciness which is typical of Sonoma evident as well. Despite a relatively substantial ABV of 14.8%, it doesn’t create much heat on the back palate. Finish is quite long. This is quite excellent.

Double blind 2012 Pinot from somewhere (Everyone's House): The double blind lineup was: - 2012 Domaine Serene Evenstad Res (benchmark) - 2012 Hartford Court Far Coast - 2012 Thomas - 2012 Le Cadeau Merci Res - 2012 Occidental Elizabeth - 2012 Domaine Serene Jerusalem Hill - 2012 Marcassin Marcassin Vineyard
This wine was much more accessible than the Domaine Serene Evanstad. There is some mushroom, forest floor and some earth. The nose is light while the palate is richer. I guess Oregon pinot due to the earthiness. A truly enjoyable wine but it did not make my top 3 of the tasting.
