  • Wine Monopole Leroy Dinner: Musty fruit in the nose. The fruit seems to have faded. Medium tannin and finish.

  • On nose: Tomato puree, forest floor and basement. Old people's house. Tobacco, raisins and hints of dried meat.
Mouth: Very round tannins, which dries. Well overripe berries. First taste delicious, but quickly becomes a bit lax.
This bottle was way over the top, and close to death.

  • Old unclear brown and dense color. Tomato juice on the nose together with rose hip, mushrooms, forest floor. And tobacco leaves. Palate is tannic and a bit drying. But still soft and with overripe fruit. I like it a lot even though this one seems to be way over the top.

  • Appearance: A bit hazy, the wine has medium intensity garnet color, with legs.
Nose: Clean, with medium intensity aromas showing red fruit of plum and ripe cherries, dried fruit of prune, maturity notes of game and mushroom, sweet spice of cloves. The wine is developing.
Palate: Dry with medium acidity, the wine has medium (-) tannin of ripe and silky texture. With medium alcohol and medium body, it exhibits medium intensity flavors of red fruit such as plum and dark cherries, dried fruit of prune, sweet spice of nutmeg. The wine has a medium (+) finish.
Conclusion: Good quality, still good freshness and the fruit is well structured. A long length and the wine didn’t feel any tiredness despite its age and only being of village level. The palate is so nice, juicy and showing good finish, lots of fruit and freshness, demonstrating again how the Iron Lady can really make exceptional wines from village level materials.

  • Quite incredible for village wine this is absolutely fantastic 1990 by Madame. In the store where I bought this bottle I was warned that if it tasted a little funny it was not at all spoilt. I was also told to decant it for filtering and drink it quickly thereafter. Thirdly I was told to stand it upright for a few days to keep sediment down. Only third recomendation was merited - so please stand this one upright for a few days for a sediment to settle. This is a fantastic wine of soft tannins and cherry compote like flavor. Its color is still very concentrated, even dense dark red - much darker than most premier crus of Burgundy from vintage this old. It was unfortunate that - in accordance with advice - I decanted it right before drinking because flavors and smell kept opening up the longer the wine stayed in the decanter.
