While it is certainly still "high acid", somehow with age this is not the wines primary characterstic. Sure there is tropical fruit on the nose and the palate (it is the Rheingau, after all), but excellent minerality on the finish, too. At a "mere" 12.5% alcohol it is a balanced wine (unlike many of today's Grosses Gewachs) and it performed well tonight with food. (swordfish and pasta with red sauce). A top notch effort from a great winemaker.
