The first bottle was not a fluke! This wine, 43 year old Fronsac, has a beautiful structure, amazingly balanced and a finish that keeps on giving... I rarely ever favor Merlot, but this wine makes a very strong case. Ridiculous value! I may actually have to re-cork some bottles of Fronsac wine.

Wow! Last minute decision to open this bottles, so still cold cellar temp when opened. Cork fully saturated, but still came out intact. High shoulder/low neck fill. The wine did not show much in the beginning as it was barely 50 F. We decided not to decant as this was a 42 year old bottle of predominantly Merlot! There was an impressive tannin structure in this wine holding everything together including a near opaque color. The tannins were chewy but ripe, which is clearly how the wine has survived. The aromatics were dominated by spicy, earthy and tobacco notes. the texture was sensational; reminding me of the 1966 Petrus... We will drink the remaining 5 bottles over the next 5 years.
