  • Fruit and tannins were complementary but diminished. Still interesting. Should have consumed 10 years ago.

  • From Art's Cellar. Went wine gambling with this 31-year old BV. We won big time. Wine was decanted for just over an hour. Very light sediment. During decant a slight musty smell came forth but dissipated quickly. Wine was clear, crimson in bowl, garnet on the rim; no amber. Nose was Pauillacesque, reminiscent of a Carruades from an above-average year: restrained red currants, lead pencil and some forest floor. In the mouth, tannins were all resolved, balance was still good (but see below). Soft red fruit, light oak and some dark earth on the medium-long finish. As the night progressed it became clear that the alcohol is getting ready to assert itself as the primary component of this wine, so drink up. Very nice experience for such a moderately priced wine!
