  • Definitely has an old world feel, both on the nose and on the palate. Benefitted from 45 min. of breathing time, which helped clear up some funk in the aromatics.

  • Opened an evening in advance for sampling but not decanted; one other opened bottle showed past signs of seepage; this one was fine. This is a lovely mid-weight mostly-merlot blend, showing roasted meaty notes alongside gracefully aging black cherry fruit. Firm structure, a little bit restrained. Quite good now alongside grilled steaks, and if a little age helps it open up, I'll be even more enthusiastic. (P.S. I should mention that I'd be noticeably less enthusiastic if I had paid what seems to be full retail for this, now that I look it up...)
