Monthly Tasting Group LTB 2015-08; Argentina (By GWL): “Pure” in the name means not any oak used as I was told. In the bouquet cherry and dark forest fruits yoghurt as well as some metal. On the palate primary cherry fruits, some sweetness and sour cherries. Ok acidity and round tannin. Clean, straight forward and one-dimensional wine. To drink within the first 3 - 4 years of its life.

Black centre, purple rim. Massive fruit nose. Taste is absolutely true. Juicy, not blackcurrant but more bramble and Redcurrant, but with strength and sweetness (14%). Immediately appealing and would cope with most food. No idea how it would age. One dimensional but enjoyable.

Very earthy at initial open. Definitely balanced out and had a nice silky finish. Uninspiring but not a bore either. Decent but not impressive.

Trapiche Lunch (Rios D'Sudamerica, Chicago IL): Nose: Those nose is very red fruit based with red cherries, berries, spice notes, violets, and red fruits.
Taste: Medium/Full bodied with medium+ acidity and silky tannins. The feel is polished and plush with red fruits, violets, berries, and red cherries.
Overall: This is a lovely and balanced Malbec. It certainly accomplishes the "Pure" goal and is a great reference point for possible blind tastings.
