  • Black-ish color - really back, with just a hint of purple on the edges. It smelled like I'd stuck my nose in a basket of ripe blackberries - amazing! Bright, focused, ripe (but not overripe) fruit flavors that matched the nose. Slightly sweet, with bright acidity on the finish. Hints of earth, mineral, licorice and oak emerge with 30+ minutes of air. Great structure, balance and texture, and with a long, fruity finish. I purchased this a the winery, not knowing exactly what it would be - and it is terrific, really terrific. The only "flaw" is the lack of complexity./ secondary flavors. it's not really simple or straight-foreward, but I don't get any red fruits or oak. (I'd have scored it 95+ if they were present).

  • Old school Napa. Blue/ black fruit. Well balanced tannins and fruit.
