  • I came across this wine through the blog Tuscan Vines. Its received tre bicchieri from the Gamberro Rosso and i think in general its good value.

In the glass : a very dark red. Tears due to the high alcohol contend(15.5% no less)
    Nose; a bit muted : cherry/raisins
Mouth: full bodied, big and powerful but it's a little disjointed and some heat again due to the high alcohol contend. Cherry/raisiny taste and not much else, so a bit one dimensional. Very smooth tannins. This wine is almost like a young amarone, but lacking the complexity.

Second day was much better. The heat subsided and it was a very nice, smooth wine but still a litlle one-dimensional. This is what I usual get with good primitivos. I'm unsure how is wine will develop. I think it should be drunk within the next 5-7 years. It will even out, but not add complexity.
