  • Initially served at about 60 F after a short decant. Needed some air, so we let it sit for an hour. Deep garnet color. Nose of blackberry fruit, notes of dried leather and lavender. Well-integrated acidity and alcohol. Not as full-bodied as other vintages of this wine that I have had. Balanced black fruit on the palate, spicy oak notes and a hint of espresso. The finish is a touch understated, but lingers.

  • THIS. WINE. IS. READY. The power of this "hot-climate" Napa Valley floor Calistoga AVA was a neat comparison to the 2018 Anakota in the St Helena AVA. Grapes right at the base of the Palisades. Pop and pour, decanted at a restaurant only because it had a lot of sediment in the punt and shoulder. The nose is blackberry spice, plums, rose petals. Palate of this wine is mature black fruit, blackberry cassis, spiced pecans, shot of espresso with a dash of hazelnut crema, apple cobbler, graphite, thick, full bodied. A monster with rounded edges from start to finish. Finished with AMPLE black fruit and pie spice but with resolving cedar tannins. Oh the structure! I am not sure that I would have guessed this one was almost 10 years old if it was served to me blind. Opened at a restaurant, this wine went REALLY WELL with a ribeye, filet mignon, and pecan crusted salmon. Others said it went well with the mashed potatoes. A nice wine. If you've got this in your cellar, consider yourself incredibly lucky. Go and get 1 (or 2), pop the cork, and celebrate your willpower to hold this in your collection for 6 years!!

  • Great and beautiful. No flaws. No sediment. Beautiful dark, dark, red color. Perfect nose. No tannin. No acid. Old world nose. Medium alcohol. Long finish. Paired perfectly with grilled filet mignon. Perfectly at peak. Perfectly drinkable. Pour it up.

  • Solid Napa cab. Full bodied. Rich dark fruit. Nothing exceptional, and maybe overpaid (esp considering PLCB prices).
