Bought 2 bottles of this wine, drank the first one 4 yrs ago. Consumed over an hour or so. This was quite muted, showing shy cherry fruit, some tartness, hard to get the glass to open up. Notes of wet autumn leaves, plum skin, leather. Sounds complex, but the wine just never seemed to pop for me. Drying finish, finely grained tannins. Drink up.

1st of 2 bottles. 13.7% abv, and I believe this was vinified as whole cluster fruit (stems included). PnP and had a glass after dinner out, before bed. This Pinot shows a nose of red berry fruit, perhaps some black cherry, cola, and tree bark, with a good dollop of spice. The palate echoes the nose, with finely grained tannins, and a refreshing level of acidity. The fruit flavors are at the forefront in this wine, but not in a bad way...in more of a village-level Burgundy way...making it an earlier drinker. Don't get me wrong, this isn't a Burgundy, but it is a restrained and beautiful expression of what can happen with PN in a cool site in Calif, when in a winemaker's hands who is looking to make more of a non-manipulated wine, rather than trying to use lots of makeup. Drink this pretty wine now, through 2020+.

World of Pinot Noir Grand Tasting (Bacara - Goleta CA): Tasting, brief note. Big and fat red and black berry on nose and palate. Almost entirely fruit driven, giving a slightly one dimensional character.
