A pour from the bottom of a magnum is a slightly hazy ruby, with just a touch of fading at the rim. This is an exceptionally savory, sort of old school Cardinale. On the nose this is serious and decidedly masculine, offering aromas of ripe black cherries, blackcurrants, fresh mint, dried violets, baked earth and walnut-like oak. Full bodied on the palate with medium+ acidity, relatively fine but still chewy tannins, a weighty texture, and remarkable balance between its tart black fruit and savory flavors. The quality here is undeniably high but this feels a bit stern - at least in this format - at the moment.

Had to have something special after the TCU victory today over Baylor. Makes this wine taste so much better! And oh my, this wine is singing right now!

Decanted 1 hour. Young but ready to drink. I would recommend to decant it 1 hour. Very special nose and palate. Full bodied, less complex than e.g. Dominus but really a nice wine. Still has many years life left. 94+ pts. at the moment.
