  • A fine bottle that still has life ahead. Upon opening a bit racy on the acid, and the full butterscotch/apricot/wild flower melange did not emerge unit 30 minutes in the glass. On the second night, the wine was perfectly balanced.-- so redolent with honey and Rheinghau fruit on the nose and that wonderful golden color that one assumes a sweeter auslese follows. The crisp backbone of acid is very nice and by day two this a dry style spatlese perfect for summer fare and a nice detour from the Mosel wines that make up post of our reisling consumption. A delight.

  • A nicely balanced spatlese that has passed its peak and is now predominantly acid-driven.Viscosity down, floral, especially honey and burnt sugar scents, fading, and overall experience no longer good.

  • Very much enjoyed this beautifully colored, orange/amber bottle which is perfect for drinking now. The spatlese has develoepd into a fairly dry wine for the reignon, and the flavors are a tiny bit clipped at the end--almost like an old Mosel auslese that quickly develops acidic overtones. Tons of tropical orange, apricot, floral high tones, but not great complexity, Obviously very well made and carefully vinified. Incredibly enjoyable with salted or smoked fish as well as chocolate.

  • Wineberserker's offline: Tartufo Bianco (San Carlos, CA): Medium golden; significant petrol but not overly so, burnt orange, slight caramel; off-dry, significant minerality, medium acidity, low alcohol, salinity; medium finish. Very nice, interesting, has character, could use a bit more midpalate persistence. 89-90

  • Burnt orange color, the nose is mature but not overly petrol-like, there's some burnt orange aroma as well as looks and something earthy that I can't identify. It's eaten all the sugar and tastes pretty dry, there's some mouth filling and tangy set of flavours, more orange, candied peel, a touch of clove, the acidity runs through this still and brings it all into focus with a delicious clean and long finish
