  • Color shows signs of age but the core its still deep black. Explosive nose, black fruits, blueberries and blackberries. Hints of rosemary. Some leather. After some time in the glass some figs. Complex.
Palate is full bodied. Ripe. But with an excellent structure. Tannins still present.
Round. Excellent wine with long future ahead.

  • If 91, on the old 'school' scale, is an A- then absolutely- this wine drank as an A-... We'll put it up there with the 2007 Penfolds Bin 389 ($70) and 2014 Caymus Cab ($75) we had earlier this week (was a nice week for us) and it met or exceeded our smiles from those couple of evenings prior.

It had been in our cellar since May 2015 when we returned from Romania with a suitcase full of bottles and family wine & spirits. From our notes on the bottle, we paid 75 Lei or prox. $25 for the 750 ML which had been in our cellar, then, for 2.5 years until tonight.

Immediately it grabbed our attention with its body, no thin black water pouring here... It was like a silky Aussie Shiraz (think Mollydooker's Boxer) its aroma blessed our nasal passages with chocolate, coffee, and fruit.

It is a wine which kept seeping out of our glass (and into our mouths) and before we knew it the bottle was nearly DONE... That, for us, is a wine that makes the 90s, one that was so good, we drank & drank, and we didn't notice that we were through nearly the entire bottle before we sat back and said WOW! Yummy!

For us, our story includes purchasing the vin at the winery in Transylvania (see photos), so that, for us, may be coloring the beverage in its own favor... But now, as we write, we have noticed the bottle is empty... YUM. MORE PLEASE! So sad for us!

Romania needs to market more than Dracula, the people are friendly, the beer (Timisoreana & Ursus come to mind) wonderful, the vin's are excellent and the mountains and forests are eerily welcoming...

Well, we guess all this is why we came back from there with these bottles! We'll get more when we visit Timisoara again soon!

We hope you get it, try it and enjoy!
