  • Deeper golden; bruised apple, apricot, waxy, almost banana, dried pineapple, loads of mineral, and then note of cat pee on the back; medium plus body, ripe fruit again with big mineral and strong acid but the finish disappears; given what seems to be botrytis lack of finish and overall focus says this was probably a wetter year; while there are many positives it feels a bit tired, something just isn't right about it.

  • Color: medium gold, copper streaks
Nose: overripe papaya, gasoline, poached peach, ripe ripe pear, loquat
Palate: medium acidity, full body. A bit too big on the aromas for its structure, but a fun ride nonetheless. Raisin and papaya, poached peach
    Finish: medium

3 hours open, doesn't seem to have the structure and power i expected. A bit disjointed? That said, a fun ride with delicate foods

  • Pale gold and incredibly scented - tropical fruits and flowers, with a medicinal edge - almost like a gewurtztraminer on the nose. The body is full and rich, even waxy. After a while in the glass it opens up with more of those tropical floral notes and just an edge of gasoline (imagine a lawnmower massacre in an orangery and you're there). 12.5% ABV but the alcohol really zings.

  • Truly a bit of a car crash
Poured like botrytized auslese. Thick. Dark.
Nose is pungent and tropical. Botrytis and sur-maturité. Not clean. A bit on hay. Less on rocks.
Palate is broad, dark, muddy and bitter. I bought a six pack and I’m sad I did.

13 seems to have been a vintage of kabinett or botrytis and the rich dry wines are sorely lacking. This is a prime example: Just bc you can make a GG doesn’t mean you should.

Opened a 13 Kerpen Kabinett instead (which might not have been exciting but was really very good).
