  • This wine was in astounding shape tonight. Not stored properly for most of its life, and with 2cm of ullage, it was golden-hued and singing and dancing immediately upon opening, crazy fresh and lifted, especially on the mid-palate. Stinging green apples and nutmeg. There was a significant amount of acid, which was gently caressed by the sweetness, and it finished begging for you to take another sip. Sherry-like, slightly (!?!) oxidized, nuts, wax, brown and baking spices, bitter orange... My friend re-bottled half of it into a small bottle and will check out tomorrow. What a lovely surprise, a thrilling glimpse into the past.
