Opened for France-Iceland. This was a great little bottle of Breton, and it helped France to victory (though if they needed the help of my wine to beat Iceland, we're all in trouble). As usual, fairly light on its feet, though in this case the warm vintage shines through in a very positive way. Limited red toned fruit (also as usual) but lots of nuance - mint, tobacco, earth - and that extra bit of depth and warmth that I'm attributing the vintage (as if I actually know something). More approachable than Baudrys big boys, but not quite the same ridiculous qpr as Baudry in my book. Still a great value by almost any other standard.

Wednesday night wines with the Delectable folks (Bar Agricole): @Bar Agricole (my nose may have been starting to get stuffed up). Deep ruby in the glass. Addictively savory nose of blackcurrant, blackberry, brett (didn’t pick up any pyrazine character). Really nice balance. Ripe, exuberant, with clarity of flavor.
Score: Between 8.5 and 9.

Rather easy drinking, nicely balanced with some complexity. Nothing wrong but in the company of the Baudry and Rougeard it was simply out classed.

Russk. Great producer, but perhaps not a great vintage.
