Light peach, citrus with light oak / vanilla. Time to drink, doesn’t need more time. Of a time where Australian Chardonnay was not this good. Trailblazers.

First Wednesday Wine Club (Napoli in Bocca, Haberfield): "Served Blind. Waxy, butter, slight oxidised notes, apple, cream. Medium plus intensity acidity, alcohol warmth is a touch intrusive, bruised apple, plenty of textured grip, slight nutty notes. Tastes like older (15 years +) Australian Chardonnay, possibly Western Australia"

Okay, I'm not sure if this is a valid note but I'll stick it down anyway. A friend informed me that Corked wines could be rescued by putting some cling film into a decanter, pouring the wine over it and then removing the cling film after a minute or two. I tried it with this wine and it appeared to work - the wine was rich, buttery and creamy with tinned peach style fruit and the cork taint was gone (I poured a glass from the bottle for comparisons sake). I also tried this with a red (see note for Delas Frere St Joseph 2010) but with less success.

Annual Coravin blitz - day one (My place, Kent Street): From Coravin. slight cork taint, butter, cream, muted fruit, dusty spice, a little vanilla. On the palate it's juicy and spicy backed by butter. Again the fruit is muted and, alas, again the cork taint comes through. FLAW

Chardonnay and Pinot Tasting: Lemon curd, soapy florals, melon, spice and straw. The palate shows a little richness but there is good floral mouthfeel and acidity perks things up. Nice length and style.
