Straw yellow. Decanted for 3 hours. Intense, multifaceted nose with deep yellow stone fruit, grilled lemon and exotic spices. Beautifully integrated oak. It is broad but focused. Intense, yet vibrant and light. The concentration and nerve in this wine is is all-consuming. Great acid. A wine that makes you sweat. Long and philosophical finish. Montrachet is unique. Could easily do with another decade in the cellar.

Big, deep and mysterious nose, a certain darkness to it, spice, anisette, cloves; almost chewy, very long, big mouthful, wonderful finish. Like a US muscle car, but not without charm.

2013 Grand Cru Horizontal tasting (Prince Wine Store, Bank Street, Melbourne): Peaches and cream, touches of marzipan/almond meal. Quite modern. Zesty acidity, drying tannins and touches of wild ferment wrestle the palate into submission. There is some fruit here but this needs so much time. Preposterously long.
