Good expression of Chardonnay from Domaine de Montille under the Deux Montille label. Quite expressive on the nose. Almost a buttered popcorn in new world style, but with restraint and those lemony notes with light hints of stone fruit behind that remind me of burgundy. The palate didn't quite show well as it was more austere and not as ripe with well integrated acidity, but it was missing the power in the mid palate that could have made it a great wine. Most impressive was how young it tasted for a 10 year old wine. This could have been any other 3-4 year old bottle. Delicious all the same, but I was hoping for a greater performance.

Pale yellow colour, greenish tinge. Gentle baking spices, nectarine, greengages and grapefruit on the nose. Good weight and volume on the palate, with grippy phenolics on the mid and back palate. Tart with greengage, grapefruit, green olives and green apple. Acids a little aggressive. Apricot kernel bitterness on the finish. A little lacking in detail and complexity.

Gentle nose of walnuts, cream and hints of green apple and apricots. It is warm in the mouth with a moderate concentration, a medium body and a persistent finish. It needs more concentration to be balanced and more complexity to be interesting.
