Slight sour cherry, coffee, toast and a very slight herbaceousness note on the nose. In the mouth there is a slight sharpness to the acidity. And there is a spiciness to the finish and a touch of mid palate burr.

Pinot and Pate matching (KC's place): From Coravin. Black hued fruits, surprisingly polished, toasted oak, slight candied elements but very controlled. That oak is quite to the fore on the palate. Fine tannins, black fruits and a bit of warmth. Okay.

Estella's 50th Part two: From Coravin. Coo, lovely nose, red berry, toast, meaty and savoury but a perfumed note offsets this. More of the same on the palate. Yumptious.

Decanted 1 hour. Nose is powerful and with a slight animal note. Palate is silky, balanced and powerful. Wonderful and delightful hedonistic bliss. Lots of fruit but the keyword is balance, balance and balance. I'm drinking liquid velvet! This is my second 2012 Mortet and I am confident this vintage is one of Arnauds best. His young wines have never tasted this good before. I cannot wait to follow them over the next 10 years. Buy all the Mortet '12 you can get your hands on, friends!

Gojibeeren,Hauch Waldboden,Kaffeenoten,Waldboden,Kirsche.
