  • Outdid a 2012 Puligny Montrachet. White flowers, peach, hint of herbal on the nose. Entry is full bodied. Peach, mango, melon, hint of butterscotch. Finished with a nice rounded character but also with just enough of a bite that it made the tongue sting. Ample character. Great balance. But, ready to drink now. Very happy with this one. This is the last one of these that I have and I think I finally timed it right!

  • This wine has a lot of characteristics of a viognier. I think I've reviewed it already (three times). In all of them I tended to echo that this wine was buttery on the front and acidic on the finish, and that hasn't changed (much). But, the buttery front is "softening" and yielding to high(er) acidity that starts earlier and finishes a little stronger. This wine has a honey butter opening (without the chicken biscuit ;) QUICKLY turns to a kiwi and honeydew, finishing with more lemon zest and citrus peel, but also has a mineral note like a wet sandstone rock with a hint of cumin. Nice wine, and I think that it has the capacity to go for at least another 5 years.

  • This wine was a little different than the last bottle. This had more of an old world feel to it pretty much from start to finish. Not much butter in the front and actually appeared to have peach, melon and mango notes in the middle and finish, but more of a mushroom-y type of note on the front. Still very enjoyable tonight with sushi of all varieties, and really helped to complement the meal without competing with any of it!

  • Echo previous notes. Very consistent. Butter on the front and old world on the finish. Excellent notes. Fought for the last 50ml of this one! Will continue to appreciate a tiny bit more within 2 years, but done in 6-7! Very approachable now.

  • This is a crazy, two-headed Chardonnay that is going through an identity crisis! That's not always a bad thing!!! On the one hand is a very full malolactic chard with an excellent, silky mouthfeel. On the other hand is spicy, old world, acidic and mineral-dominated chard. This wine is the perfect balance, and I dare say one of the best Chards I've had in recent memory. This outpaces $70 chardonnays at about half the cost. Served chilled around 60 degrees, this wine has peach, apricot, honeydew, a hint of mango, and is a full bodied, soft chardonnay that has a hint of spice on the very full bodied, long oaked up finish. If you let this one sit in the back of your palate, or when warmed up, the wine takes on a more old world characteristic. It still has a lot of character and depth up front, but at room temp this wine seems to have a lot of minerality that percolates on through....crushed rock in the middle with more of a citrus lemon zest and even a hint of sour apple on the finish with some white pepper spice that stings the palate. Probably one of the best Chards I've had in recent memory. I think this one has the depth that it can hold at least 5-7 years, but this one is such a delight to drink that why would you wanna do that??
