Found three unrecorded magnums in corner of cellar - decanted three hours before serving with leg of lamb pot roasted with flageolet beans. Light ruby with just a trace of bricking. Reglisse, with a touch of caramel and blackcurrant on nose. Grenache still very much to fore with Syrah sweetening and then tannins quickly coming through - without food perhaps too strongly (surprisingly for age) but perfect for cutting through the lamb. Not enough to the wine to be vv good but enjoyed very much by all and left me wondering what to do with remaining two magnums.

Quite dry and surly initially, but really opens up after an hour of breathing. Cabernet dominant on the nose, quite deep and plush blackcurrant fruit. Grenache more prominent on the palate initially with it's sweet fruit and glycerine texture, though after about three hours the Cabernet comes back more strongly on the palate. Spot on with jugged hare. Fantastically strong for the vintage, but starting to come and go a bit - benefits from food. Very decent. ***

Dry, ripe with a little sherry on the palate. Nice. Food wine.
