I do like this. Inky nose of figs and new sneakers. Mouth of papaya, plums and quality black shoe polish. Medium length finish of aniseed and limes. Interesting wine and I think 10 years of ageing has done a good service.

Tonight this is better - by far - than the prior 2 bottles I've had. No overwhelming funkiness on the nose. Well integrated tannins with herbs and sweet and spicy cherry flavors followed by a nice dry finish. Now I wish I had more.

Similar to last time. This is almost repellent on opening (to some), with overwhelming funk and bitter tannins. It needed lots of time and air to become its best version. The mourvedre and the dirty side of malbec dominated.

Big, dark, and inky. Heavy notes of blackberry, blueberry, and black plums. Oaky notes of vanilla and toast. The wine is dry and tannic. My first impression was "Wow there's a lot of Petit Sirah in here!" Turns out the blend is only 10% Petit, with an additional 16% Mourvedre (which explains the aforementioned tannins)
38% Malbec and 36% Syrah comprise the bulk of this Big Blend from Lake County that, despite the formidable cépage, finishes fast and quiet.

Full bodied and solid overall. Not very complex but still delivers a nice experience. Drink or hold.
