Tasted alongside the '95 and '04. Double decanted then left open for a couple of hours before consuming.
This struck me as darker than the '95 - more blue and blackberry than red berries. This had the same slightly minty component I found in the '95, and had some of the same heat at 14.9%.
This wine was a bit thinner on the palate with rhubarb and spice. Like the '95, I felt the tannins and acid dominated the palate with the fruit backup dancing.

Concur with other recent scores/ratings. Its not "bad." It just doesn't really taste like anything. It's better than a lot of the wine out there anyway though. Maybe a little bit of blackberry jam/fruit hanging on. Does have some remnant of that classic aged Zin flavor. Almost tastes like cheap jug Chianti you'd get at a spaghetti and meatball type of Italian restaurant, albeit with a bit more body. Mostly just kind of sour. I guess I wish I hadn't payed $25 bucks + s/h for it on winebid.com, but alas, it does have alcohol, so I will drink it :)
REVISION: After a day or two, this wine opened up and there was actually some pretty nice fruit to this wine. Not a 76 anymore...I'll say 84.

Zin Thing 2010 Lightning Round selection. Better than bottle tried last year but glad this is the last one. About 5 years too late.

Zin Thing 2009: Lightning Round selection. Fruit has turned tart and unappealing.

Not tasting well -- no fruit left; I wonder if it's just an age thing, but you wouldn't expect 10 years should exhaust this wine!
