Creamy spiced red plum and roasted currant fruit mix with camphor, pepper and Asian five spice. Full bodied, quite savory now in its evolution, yet not entirely interesting either. Ends on a milk chocolate and hickory smoke note, with smooth tannins. Ready to drink but not going downhill anytime soon. Might develop more if you want to wait and see. 75% Merlot with 20% Cab Franc & 5% Cab Sauv from ~25 year old vines on gravel soils. Malo & 18-20 months in new French oak. 3,000 cases made.

A five hectare estate. Produced from 100% Merlot, with limited oak aging (3-6 months according to the vintage), 13.5% ABV. Good intense purple colour; good ripe Merlot fruit, still a bit tight of course but the tannins seem ripe, there is a gravelly minerality and a slightly medicinal touch adds interest. Should drink well in a year or two.
