  • Clear, watery-to-pale garnet/brick.

Moderate aromas with some age. Notes of: black cherry, rhubarb, dark plum, oddly boozy, maraschino liqueur, slight caramel.

Dry, light body, fresh acidity. Low, soft tannins. Well balanced.

Moderate flavors of red fruits (especially fresh, ripe cherries), slight minerality, and some faint smoke.

  • Very light, almost rosé in color. Neutral nose, neutral flavors that may improve with more bottle time. Some essence of dried rose petals but a rather bitter finish of high fixed sulfur rather than tannins. Domaine Chêne is a family operation, which I like to support, but… Purchased for $13, yet at this point better values are to be had from New World Pinots in the same price range.
