  • PNP. Pale yellow. Very PYCM nose, smoky reduction with grapefruit rind. No tropical notes which I expected from the botrytis that is prevalent in 13. Chalky, mineral laden palate, drying and tight with refreshing lift. Excellent. Pierre-Yves is a seriously talented winemaker.

  • PNP. Next bottle should be decanted for 2 hours. Lovely nose, flint, sage, lemon and spice. The palate comes alive with air. Lemon, acidity, crisp chalky texture with a juicy finish that just lingers. The palate is amazing on this wine, perfect balance between texture, flavor and energy.

  • PNP. Medium yellow. Rocking nose of struck match, flinty minerals and lemon. Deep palate, creamy and juicy with a ton of balancing acidity, structure and chalky minerals. Wow wine, from nose to palate to the lengthy finish.

Update on day 2, set aside a pour, stored in the fridge. Still beautiful, the nose is more lemon and brioche but still has the flinty elements. Palate has held up, vibrant and creamy at the same time. This is a great wine from a challenging vintage.

  • We brought this to dinner tonight at Meridia. I had them decant it, as they can be so reductive.
I've really liked the '13 PYCM St. Aubins, but this bottle instantly announced it had reached another level. According to my CT records, it was the normal St. Aubin En Remilly blanc. I didn't notice the "Nicholas et Mathis" seal on the label until much later. Silky texture with a mineral cut, crystalline power, the volume cranked up to 11. Intense citrus and stone fruit with flint and steel, and an enduring finish. This was absurdly good.

  • Stunningly beautiful right from the start. This was the wine of the night.

Ever-so-pale golden yellow color (almost looks crystalline). The nose is incredibly pure. Bright and fresh with aromas of citrus, matchstick (subtle reduction) and stunningly clean stone fruit.

The palate is defined by beautiful minerality, focused Chardonnay, almost Chevalier-like, flavors. Makes sense due to this En Remilly parcel's close proximity to Chevalier Montrachet

This wine is drinking perfectly now but will certainly go a few more years. Make sure to catch it while it is still super fresh and focused like it is today
