Unremarkable. Fruits are ripe but dull and probably a 'dead fruited' as this wine is at least the 14.5% as stated on the label. Funky aniseed on the nose and palate but not fresh fruit and genuine structure to counter-act. Does remind of the over-blown wines from the early 2000s.
screwtop, 14.5% alcohol, medium legs, dark purple; vinturied & tasted soon afterward, very full bodied, prunes, cherries, traces of minerals (the label says plums & mulberries-pretty close); uncomplex, dry, good balance of tannins & fruit, short finish; pair with pasta, chicken, steak

I needed some wine for a recipe so this was opened earlier than normal. Not as much fruit as I usually enjoy from this producer. But I won't give up on this vintage yet.
Nose is closed, with notes of blackberry jam and graphite. Palate is not particularly structured, but very powerful, with tight flavours of concentrated fruit (blackcurrant cordial, liquorice, cranberry), and big, smoky oak (bourbon, charcoal, campfire smoke).

(Jacob's Creek Shiraz Reserve Barossa) Very dark red violet color; appealing, tart black currant, menthol, clove, eucalyptus, bittersweet chocolate nose; tasty, tart black currant, menthol, light eucalyptus, clove palate with good balancing acidity; could use 1-2 years; medium-plus finish
