  • This was fairly disappointing. I poured this totally blind for a friend and he correctly identified it a 2002 or 2004 Gevrey-Chambertin, but he guessed it to be a village wine. That basically sums it up. It was totally typical, but it just didn't have that Grand Cru umph that you'd like. No sexy texture, no real depth of flavor. The notes were pleasant, and there was a slight green streak, but it just wasn't all that interesting. I also have some 2004 Frédéric Magnien Echezeaux and that's a beautiful wine most certainly drinking at Grand Cru level. This one's not quite up to that snuff, and with the lack of fruit, it may not get better. It's into it's secondary stage of development, and it may be interesting to wait for tertiary notes to come in, but I doubt it will ever get all that much better, so I'm not sure if I'll bother holding onto the remaining bottles.

  • Light red with slight bricking. Very expressive and very spicy, high-toned aromas of earth, green leafy vegetables, and light but quite sweet oak. Again the sweetness is there on the palate, but it's lively, balanced and flavorsome, with a fine finish. There's a bit of green, but overall this does well with what the year provided.
