Maipo Valley v.s. Left Bank Bordeaux (Extra Space): Tasted blind. Appearance is clear, deep intensity, ruby colour. Legs. Nose is clean, medium intensity, with aromas of toasted vanilla oak, slight earth, cinnamon spice, blackberry, blackcurrant. Developing. On the palate, dry, medium+ acidity, medium+ alcohol, firm high tannins, full body. Medium+ flavour intensity, with flavours of vanilla, cinnamon spice, ripe blackcurrant, blackberry, cassis, and slight earth. Long finish. Good quality. Modern style. The fruit extract and oak influence here had me thinking "Michel Rolland style". 14 years and still not really ready to drink yet. Probably will be better drinking in 5+ years' time. Cabernet Sauvignon based blend.
