This bottle was not as good as the last. Still noticed the stems, green leaf tobacco and herbs, but the mid-palate was hollow and it lacked real definition. The acidity made it food-friendly, which is a big plus in my book.

Last bottle. All bought at grocery. Fully integrated and nicely balanced drink now probably could hold a couple more years. A good supermarket wine a testament to the 2000 vintage

This was much better than the other tasting notes indicate, and certainly was not too old. First day, there were lots of black fruits and evidence of stems (for me, green leaf tobacco), it was tight and closed and reminded me more of a 2001 (classic vintage). The second night, it had opened, and had a distinct aroma of fine espresso beans followed by black fruit and black tea in the mouth. It came across as mature but had good depth and smoothness.
May have been a flawed bottle but this was thin, acidic, no fruit, little tannin, and undrinkable. We poured it down the drain after half a glass. I have one more bottle of this, hope it's better.

I picked these up over about a year at the grocery, probably, 2004-05. Still a deep red/black color. Strong nose of black fruit and medium toast oak with a bit of herbs. Was a bit thin on opening, but has put on weight in the glass. Medium plus body with black fruits, oak and a bit of earth in the mouth. Decent still slightly tannic finish. Still plenty of time left, but I'd be concerned the herbal note will outlast the fruit. I certainly enjoyed it mid-week with pasta and a red sauce...I don't think I paid much over $10 for these though. At $25, I'd look elsewhere.
