  • Beautiful wine after 3 hours decant.

    Def buy again.

  • Purple colour. Initial aroma of shoe polish with plum. Forward fruit, plum and black berries, but high acidity. Tannin is set well, medium body, average smoothness. It grows on you but doesn't reach high levels.

  • A well crafted wine with just enough fruit flavour, minimal tannins and moderate spice. Not a bad showing given it was popped and poured at the last minute.

Very drinkable but generally underdelivers on expectations in terms of its light body, thin flavour and general lack of character considering its from region with many similar characteristics with Coonawarra and Pathadaway that reside nearby.

No doubt a quality wine with red fruits, but it's lacking the structure to use space in the cellar and is unremarkable as a drink now proposition.

Value (and nothing to complain about) at its $17.10 price at DM but am thinking others (d'Arenburg, Duck Duck Goose, etc) are more enjoyable options at this quaffing price point mainly due to their density, intensity and (in the case of d'Arenburg) capacity to improve with midterm (8-10 years) cellaring.

Next day edit: second day and the seamless fruit integration and great quality in terms of acidity balance and clean elegant fruit are undeniable and very impressive (and highly unusual for a wine at this price point). The density of the wine, the flavour and the length of the wind all benifeted from extended decanting/more time in an open bottle. There are no tannins to speak of.

Note to self- this wine is likely to benifet more from decanting than medium term cellaring due to its lack of sufficient structure and tannin.

Def buy again (as a drink now proposition) and upgraded to 90 (generally) but 91/92 when considering the price point.
