100% Merlot. primarily red fruit aromas. some meatiness to the aromas, but also substantial spice. black olive and red fruit to the palate. not the fleshiest Merlot. more structure than flesh.

The '10 D'Auron is a vivid, lively and fruit-engulfed wine that has integrity and elegance even on its third day of being opened. In the glass, a bright red hue with no indication of ageing near the thresold of the rim. On the nose, earth, wet soil and early fragrances of cherry are present. In the mouth: a nice weight, mild acidity and a lovely strawberry push lends itself to an extremely easy but tight back end. Each glass is a joy to drink. It's a comfortable wine, if nothing more. There's enough complexity here to form interest, but not enough for you to go all-empedocles on each sip. This is a great showing right now, and I feel this will have an integrity years down the road. A great bargain. A damn fine wine. A big surprise, even as I understand '10 to be a great year for Bordeaux.
